Currently, I work in a preschool every Wednesday morning. While eating around the table, sometimes conversations come up with the children around numbers. They ask each other what numbers are together. For example, Freda asked, “What is a four and a two?”. One child will answer “six” and another will say, “No, 42!”.
This is why BASE TEN is so important. It is not a good idea to discuss higher numbers until this concept is clear.
Freebie 34 and 35 have exercises to help master these concepts. If you have bags of jewels, they help too! (And who does not love jewels?) 🙂 Enjoy!
