What is it?
Arithmetic Village is a series of five short, rhyming books which introduce the fundamental maths concepts necessary for more advanced mathematical reasoning – place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
The books are supported by three downloadable activity packets containing 100+ worksheets and “open ended” activities. These are designed to reinforce the key concepts through multidisciplinary, light-hearted activities.
The worksheets can be printed and laminated or placed in a plastic file for reuse with a wipe off marker.
They can also be duplicated on a chalkboard, in the sand or any other surface.
Arithmetic Village is intended to be an individualized, learn-at-your-own-pace, math supplement.
•••• The program works best if each child makes their own manipulative kit – a treasure chest, which can be individually decorated and filled with 10 sacks that each holds 10 jewels. This enables children to play with equations up to 100.
